Kongsbergs – three innovative platforms
The company recently
completed successful field trials
of three innovative platforms,
including an augmented reality
Seeker M Seek and find
Canadian firm Newcon Optik
has introduced
its Seeker series of mountable
rangefinders.
Comprising the
Seeker S and Seeker M, this
series of versatile and lightweight
rangefinder modules can be bore-
sighted to practically any optical
system.
This includes binoculars,
spotting scopes and thermal
imagers, as well being mounted
onto rifles or integrated into fire
control systems. They have NATO
target measurement ranges of
3,000m and 2,000m respectively.
A brand-new product is the
LRM 3550M, a pocket-sized laser
rangefinder monocular designed
to outperform other devices of
its class.
Its rugged, waterproof
and shockproof design makes it
ideal for military, navy and law
enforcement operations in the
most challenging conditions. With
an eye-safe 1,550nm laser, and able
to measure up to 3,500m, it has a
built-in compass, inclinometer and
GPS receiver.
The NVS 27M, an exceptionally
lightweight and versatile Gen 3
night vision clip-on, was
introduced by Newcon Optik
in 2016.
Rugged, compact and
durable, this high-resolution unit
provides flawless night vision
imaging for virtually any daytime
application with the Director
Land Command Systems Program
Management of the Canadian
Army. The application overlays
a digital model of the world over
a live video feed to ‘augment’
reality with a composite view
providing additional information
that is not visible in the original
image.
Kongsberg Geospatial also
conducted trials of a new platform
to allow the remote operation
of air traffic control towers. An
agreement has been signed with
riflescope – it is compatible with
sight magnifications between 1x
and 20x, enabling operators to
use most, if not all, of a given day
sight’s magnification capability.
The company has also
introduced the Spotter LRF Series,
said to be the first to combine
spotting scope and long-distance
laser rangefinder. Both allow rapid
and accurate target acquisition with
15-45x variable magnification and
have etched mil-dot reticles and
OLED displays. The Spotter LRF
utilises a 905nm laser that can range
a NATO target to 2,000m, while the
Spotter LRF Pro features a 1,550nm
laser capable of ranging 3,000m.
Both have numerous mounting
options and can communicate and
integrate with external systems
including military GPS units, Pcs
and Android devices.
